Stablecoin issuer Tether led a $15 million Series A for payment infrastructure startup Mural, bringing its total funding to $28 million, CoinDesk’s Jamie Crawley reported. North Island Ventures and existing investors also participated.
Founded by former Palantir engineers, Mural helps businesses manage payments, accounts, identity checks and regulatory compliance across banks and blockchains. Customers include payroll platform Deel and browser developer Opera.
Its systems let companies cap transactions, limit who can receive funds and require extra approval for larger payments, providing controls for AI agents authorized to move money on behalf of people or businesses.
The DeAI angle: Giving AI agents spending authority requires rules about where money can go and when humans must approve. Mural’s controls address that need, though the funding alone does not establish how widely agents are using its infrastructure.
