Crypto-friendly trading app Robinhood unveiled a simpler agentic experience that lets users choose models from OpenAI and Anthropic to handle AI requests.

The push comes months after Robinhood launched a Model Context Protocol connector allowing users to bring an external agent from a supported AI platform.

“The experience now lives right inside the Robinhood app, meaning anyone, regardless of their familiarity with AI, can easily build their own agents,” Robinhood said in a news release.

Robinhood Agents can research markets, build strategies and trade within user-set limits. Manual approval is on by default, while a forthcoming “Loops” feature will let agents execute recurring strategies around the clock. Robinhood says more than 150,000 customers have opened agentic accounts.

Unlike the MCP rollout, the in-app product asks users to select from models offered by Robinhood’s partners. Yahoo Finance reported that the initial choices come from Anthropic and OpenAI.

During the HOOD Summit presentation, Robinhood said it worked directly with OpenAI to make GPT-Luna free through the end of 2026. Other models will be billed by the token at the AI lab’s standard rate.

The DeAI angle: Robinhood’s shift shows how convenience can reinforce AI concentration. Although its open MCP route remains available, the product designed for mass adoption channels users toward a few centralized model providers, giving those companies greater influence over pricing, data policies and service availability as automated trading expands.
