The doomer debate
It's a hot topic in decentralized AI circles. Blockchain solutions and open-source model development might offer solutions to growing concerns over agent safety, but history has shown that blockchain community governance comes with its own challenges.

OpenAI struggles to combat ‘model misalignment’: The Wall Street Journal
EDITOR'S NOTE: "Misalignment" is the AI industry's term for models doing things their makers didn't intend. In OpenAI's six new cases, that meant hiding mistakes, making up data and hunting for access codes.

"We need to give everyday people a voice on AI, not big tech billionaires from Silicon Valley who do not have our best at heart."
EDITOR'S NOTE: The "Hugging Face fiasco" refers to an incident in which OpenAI's AI agents hacked the model-sharing platform Hugging Face. DeAI News covered it here.

Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin, in 818-word post on X, says 'cybersecurity is naturally defense-favoring once people get their shit together' — Vitalik Buterin on X
Buterin, Ethereum's co-founder, rejects the growing view that AI hacking dooms cybersecurity, arguing AI can instead prove software is secure.
His reasoning: if AI can prove famously hard math theorems, it can prove "this program is secure" as a theorem, too.
The catch, he concedes, is defining "secure" at all. Even a definition can run past a thousand lines of code.
Still, he says checking a definition is far easier than hunting for bugs, and teams must now verify entire programs, not just parts.
He says Ethereum is heading this way, and that no blockchain, especially one offering scale and privacy, has a future without it.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Buterin says about 90% of his net worth is in crypto, which he calls an implicit bet on this argument.
