The Ethereum Foundation launched zkAPI, a system letting users pay for AI models and other metered APIs without revealing their identity, The Block's Zack Abrams reported.

Built with the Open Anonymity Project, the system uses zero-knowledge proofs and a private vault contract on Ethereum mainnet to process payments in ETH or USDC, according to the article, which cited according to a blog post by the foundation's decentralized AI team.

The system, built with the Open Anonymity Project, implements a design Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum Foundation dAI Lead Davide Crapis published in February.
