BNB Chain, the blockchain network launched by crypto exchange Binance, said Thursday AI agents built with its Agent Studio can now charge for their work and take payment on-chain.

Version 2 adds support for x402, so a seller agent exposes a standard receiving interface and funds settle straight to its wallet once a buyer pays, according to a company blog post accompanying a thread posted on X. Builders can set the price at zero and switch it on later.

V2 also adds TypeScript alongside Python, and a paymaster that covers gas on BNB Smart Chain testnet, so builders no longer have to pre-fund the agent with crypto to cover the transaction fees.

The payment flow completes ERC-8183, an agentic-commerce standard still in draft. MetaMask and Coinbase offer agent wallets of their own.

BNB's Agent Studio initially launched July 1. V2 is live now. Existing agents keep running without migration.

HOW AI WAS USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF THIS PIECE: I wrote the first draft of this story on Claude Desktop using a custom skill that turns company announcements on X into news stories, then filed the draft directly to DeAI News on DistroVerse, our web app, using our Distro Publisher MCP connector. I used the DistoVerse built-in (non-AI) editing interface to edit the piece, and I checked the facts against original sources before publication.
